You're probably researching the performance that electric sport bikes can achieve these days. What is the maximum power a sporty electric motorcycle can achieve? What is the most powerful electric sport bike on the market? What is the best electric sport bike to buy in 2023? This article is designed to give you the answers you've been waiting for.

So let's go, to help you find the best electric motorcycle, the sportiest, we offer you this list of the best selling models. This list is based on two main criteria: the power of the motor, which is measured in kilowatts, and the maximum speed that the vehicle can reach. The battery used and the motorcycle's autonomy are obviously criteria that you must take into account to make the best purchase. However, if you are looking for a sporty motorcycle, this is more of a secondary consideration.

HARLEY-DAVIDSON LIVEWIRE:

The other star of the segment is also an American, with a much better known name. The Harley-Davidson LiveWire is the first electric motorcycle from the Milwaukee-based manufacturer, which is more used to big, torquey street bikes. The LiveWire has plenty of torque thanks to its 105 horsepower electric motor and 116 Nm of torque. As far as acceleration is concerned, the manufacturer claims a 0 to 100 km/h time of three seconds and acceleration from 100 to 130 km/h in 1.9 seconds.

Air-cooled and made of cells supplied by Samsung, the battery has a capacity of 15.5 kWh. In terms of range, Harley-Davidson claims 235 kilometers in the city and 152 kilometers on the highway. These figures are quite similar to those of the Zero SR/F and SR/F, except in terms of price, since the LiveWire charges a lot of money for its prestigious badge. It costs 33,900 euros in France to ride the first electric Harley.

THE LIGHTNING LS-218:

In the sector of sporty electric motorcycles, the Lightning LS-218 is undoubtedly the best known. The Superbike is the fastest in its class with a top speed of 352 km/h. Under its hood, it's a 200 horsepower engine and a light weight of 224 kilos. Its acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is accomplished in 2.2 seconds.

The manufacturer has also implemented three different battery packs: 12 kWh (160 to 190 kilometers of autonomy), 15 kWh (190 to 240 kilometers) and 20 kWh for (260 to 290 kilometers). With all these technical characteristics, one could expect an exorbitant price. On the company's website, the first version is listed at $38,888, or 34,383 euros. You'll have to be patient, the electric motorcycle is produced to order.

ZERO MOTORCYCLES SR/F AND SR/S:

These are the most powerful motorcycles in the range of the Californian manufacturer. The SR/F is a model without a fairing, while the SR/S is a more recent model with a fairing that gives it a sportier look. In terms of performance, the SR/F and SR/S will satisfy many riders, at least from 0 to 100 km/h. With 110 peak horsepower and 190 Nm of torque available instantly, 0-100 km/h takes about three seconds. Similar to any good roadster? Yes, but it's not so much the 0 to 100 km/h that impresses, it's more the 0 to 50 km/h acceleration that will leave anyone standing at a red light.

Equipped with a 14.4 kWh battery as standard, the Zero SR/F offers up to 259 kilometers of range in urban use and approximately 160 kilometers in mixed cycle. Like most of Zero Motorcycles' electric motorcycles, it can be equipped with a "Power Tank" option. This consists of an additional 3.6 kWh pack, which increases the combined capacity to 18 kWh for a range of over 300 kilometers. In France, the SR/F starts at 20,970 euros and the SR/S at 21,720 euros.

THE SUR-RON LIGHT BEE:

First of all, be careful to make the distinction, the Chinese manufacturer offers two versions of its electric motorcycle. The Light Bee is approved for use on public roads, while the Light Bee X can only be used on private property. Indeed, the latter can reach a top speed of 75 km/h while the first version is limited to 45 km/h.

The Sur-Ron Light Bee stands out by its typical motocross design. It also features a 1.92 kWh battery with a range of 100 kilometers. In order to ride this model, you will need at least an A1 license. In terms of price, the Light Bee motorcycle starts at 4 990 euros.

Arc Vector, British luxury:

Unique in its kind, the Arc Vector electric motorcycle is back on the scene with its futuristic look designed by a former Jaguar. The British manufacturer, after having gone bankrupt, offers an ultra-premium two-wheeler at a price of 99,000 euros.

Arc promises on its Vector a top speed of 200 km/h (95 kW electric motor) with a 0 to 100 km/h in only 3.2 seconds. The 16.8 kWh battery promises a maximum range of 436 km in urban areas. A quick charge is offered to get a full charge in just 45 minutes.

The British manufacturer is banking on a range of connected accessories that promise to completely revise the way you drive. A jacket with haptic feedback would be proposed to signal the pilot a series of warnings as well as a helmet displaying driving information directly integrated into the visor.

Energica Eva Ribelle 2020, the powerful Street Fighter:

In a much sportier design, we find in this comparison of the best electric motorcycles of 2023, the ultra-powerful Street Fighter Energica Eva Ribelle 2020. The Italian manufacturer has been chosen to equip the electric MotoGP championship (FIM Enel MotoE World Cup) with this electric motorcycle.

A true roadster developing 145 horsepower with a speed limited to 200 km/h offering a range of 200 km in mixed use and nearly 400 km in the city. With new, more efficient but above all lighter batteries, this street fighter gains nearly 5% in weight compared to the previous version.

It has 4 maps, 4 modes of energy recovery during braking, a reverse gear, a fast charger that can recover 85% in just 20 minutes, a TFT screen connected, Bosch ABS and a 6-level traction control developed by Energica.

One of the most complete electric sport bikes of our comparison for a price exceeding 20.000 euros.

Horwin CR6, the classic Café Racer style:

In a much more classic style, the Horwin CR6 combines power and the Café Racer style that bikers love so much. Its 6.2 kW engine has good acceleration with a 0 to 60 km/h time of just 6 seconds.

The driving sensations are there with a vehicle developed and thought for the European market. Indeed, the position of the seat, the length of the seat and the comfort of the co-pilot are optimized for tall people on the Horwin CR6 (in test here).

A complete electric motorcycle offering a good autonomy (150 km of range) as well as a comfortable ride and a frank acceleration (260Nm of engine torque). The only drawback is its large non-removable battery (72V 55Ah) but which allows to benefit from a bigger subsidy from the government.

Masai Vision 3000, supermotard made for the city:

We finally end this comparison of the best electric motorcycles of the year 2023 with the Masai Vision 3000 in a pure supermotard style in 50cc equivalent. It is not necessary to have a motorcycle license to ride it.
Its 3kW brushless motor with chain transmission allows to quickly reach 45 km/h of maximum speed. If this transmission makes slightly more noise than the total silence of a motor placed in the rear wheel, it allows to develop a better performance.
The Masai Vision 3000 is an excellent electric motorcycle for the city, promising up to 60 km of autonomy that can be doubled by adding a second battery. This Vision 3000 also has significant subsidies, which makes it one of the best inexpensive electric motorcycles in our comparison.

Conclusion:

The electric motorcycle market is still in its infancy and the major manufacturers are waiting to see how motorcyclists react before making the switch to electric bikes. It's a big change for this industry, but with a lot of possibilities still to come.
